Oh, a poem to my taste at last. Well, I encounter them more often than that, every once in a while, that is to say.
For the conspiracy theorists out there: This poem contains the letters required to spell out the words &#8216;I will own you&#8217;. That should give you something to obsess about for the next, say, 72 hours.

Thank you, at any rate, dear author, for a friendly and much needed reminder that books and owls, even those made of plastic, make wealthy, at least in a sense, despite the fact that you can eat neither to nourish you. Yet if there be an afterlife, which we shall assume here for the sake of argument, this kind of food may be of actual use.

But why all these assumptions that the lyrical I is identical with the author? Are we really so obsessed with ourselves that we automatically assume that whatever someone may write must needs be about themselves from the first to the last word? Appalling, if you ask me. But then again, what do I know?

Egyptian mythology is inside my wheelhouse. i treasure it so. the afterlife is very much real not only for Pharaohs. i think your poem commented on the material excess that certain people value & not spiritual enlightenment. i'm all in favour for wisdom. it's an endangered species. Congratulations on the Daily btw. so refreshing to read a poem based on mystical powers.
