an explosion then silence we ran to casualty and waited and waited then the ambulances arrived a corpse burned another appeared only sleeping showered with pin ***** shrapnel holes both dead too ashamed to look my friends in the eye the ******* did it for us they said This fun run That no one won

Fun run
an explosion then silence we ran to casualty and waited and waited then the ambulances arrived a corpse burned another appeared only sleeping showered with pin ***** shrapnel holes both dead too ashamed to look my friends in the eye the ******* did it for us they said This fun run That no one won
I wrote this many years ago when I was a med student doing in ER in Northern Ireland when the IRA blew up british army soldiers who were taking part in a fun run for a local charity with locals. As a catholic I felt incredibly angry at the IRA and horrendously guilty amongst my protestant friends. Terrible times indeed.
