I wish that I had someone
to write a poem about me.
It wouldn't have to be amazing or perfect.
Just a few stanzas that praised my
huge curly brown hair
and my pale skin
and the gap between my two front teeth
and my skinny body.
Because these are the quirks that I love about myself,
but I can't just say that,
or I run the risk of being conceited,
self-absorbed.
Or maybe just having healthy self-confidence that is so
frowned-upon in America today.
