Bending, twisting, and falling down sober It's a scene to which I've played, over and over Tomorrow holds hope, in the ways of the world Yesterday isn't an answer, but merely a word So bent, so tangled, so destructively gone I see the hands round the clock, it's now half past one Render me helpless, in an endless race, I'm trapped in a circle, monotonously traced A soul shackled by memories, and stricken with fear I reap comfort from rain, sigh relief through my tears No one to judge me, in the essence of man Tangled in this intricate web, called a plan Of life of course, cards dealt round after round In finding myself, and standing this ground Strength has been chiseled from all that is gone Courage defined by these cards read wrong This heart has grown cold, but I can't walk away The warmth in those eyes has willed me to stay The joker of chance, has ******* every ace Fate dealt the hand, and change set the pace One taste of those lips, curled into a smile Just one taste sparks a flame, to burn for a while While atoms collide, the earth is still turning This heart of mine, starved from this yearning For more of these cards, of hope being played Untangled from torture, love won't simply fade
