I like this one a lot, Scott.
The second line did it.

To me it captures that rush of hormones which overtakes body 
and mind to focus time in the here-and-now of not only battle,
but also of other situations when total sensation is frozen
in the moment, and living is just "now".

The brevity of the piece goes well with that, I think.
