rose petal
is a dove...
scarlet leaflets
that resemble
a heart
when it first reconciled
with love.
a merciful breeze
which opens the eyes of the dove
so that it sees
love is not love,
it is an affliction
caused by another person's existence
yet love is radiant
as its rays
leave hearts patulous
and expecting more from the vast galaxies,
not the tumult of a fragile rose petal
each and every
rose petal
is a dove
leaking compassion
for those who aren't compatible
with the world's ego
