I tend my garden with watchful eyes Not left to luck, or the sands of time I pace these rows, and purify Because I know, what I sow, is mine I tend to fear what I cannot see I feel absurd, but they're real to me One second thought can plant a seed A scourge will sprout, and begin to feed My eyes are dry, and my body aches The Sun's too high to touch my face Vision blurs where heat radiates Blending lines, and distorting shape My souls on fire, my broken heart aches The Earth is offered, for Heaven's sake With all I need to build or break It's up to me to strive to create Truth's sting can hurt, but it's not unkind Because I know, what I grow, in time Will inspire my heart with love sublime To pluck from my field, and share what's mine My souls on fire, my body aches My eyes are dry, my open palm shakes Because I know, all I sow If it grows, when I go, I take
