Your face is the moonshine If the pillow were the blue of the ocean And the shadows the dark of the night As you rest there sleeping peacefully My angel, my wife Things aren’t over Your eyes are the lamplight That sways ‘round the maze of the hallways In this cage where alone you give me sight As you rest there sleeping peacefully My angel, my wife And the flowers are blue in the fabric And the brandy’s the brown of your eyes And my heart is for you and the fire is too So, so much for our blood-drenched skin With your Polaroid in my palms And my love still on your flesh With the soul of your father and the hope of your sister Wish by spirit if by yes Things aren’t over You’re why I’ll survive For I’m meant to be by your side So don’t you worry, it’s my turn to fight Just rest there and sleep peacefully My angel, my wife (c) 2015
