Great, I do remember saying the same thing...then I finally did  figure out that the more noise, like radio or tv humming, the longer they slept. Now my sons baby is 6 weeks old and they have the tv on with no volume followed with a shhhhh... I love your poem, because that is the way I felt, it took 4 kids to except noise while baby slept...
