calm and
fast-flowing but
unsuspecting of the
sudden drop, where it tumbles--
with its glorious white
droplets of pure
life, soon to be immersed
in darkness,
uniformity,
among the others
who've broken,
fallen,
before it.
and they all mend as one--
as the river,
still moving speedily along
but faster, with the memory
of free fall
