She starts to speak, he listens close. Her eyes welled up, as his mind froze. He inches near, she falls right in. He holds her tight, the know within, they're the ones who could have been. She pulls his hand right off her head for fear that she would utter things she shouldn't say. So he offers words he wished he didn't mean. Her happiness is all that matters to him. So it goes. They'll never know what life might have been if someone had caved in when they once had no one to hold. If they only had seen and knew what could have been. She says goodbye, he bids farewell. Their hearts still lie to whom they love.
