In Confucian tradition, husbands could divorce their wives based on ‘Seven Grounds for Divorce’ as stated below but generally this no longer applies in modern days: 1 failure to produce a son; 2 disobedience to the parents in law; 3 promiscuity or lewd behaviour; 4. jealous behaviour ( disrupting household harmony) 5. had an incurable disease 6. excessive talking 7. theft This aspect appears in a chapter on The Sociology of a Confucian Family in my 10th forthcoming book titled The Wisdom of Confucianism (A Guide for our chaotic modern Age), to be ready in Feb.
