The Oscars are tonight.
I won’t see them, they start at 1am here.
I’m not obsessed over any male movie stars
I haven’t found one to obsess over in a while.
Except Ansel Elgort (HBO Tokyo Vice) - that man can GET it.
Upon writing that sentence I called out to my bf Peter,
“That Ansel Elgort can get it!” (He knows - Ansel is my ‘hall pass’)
“Go for it!” he called back.
This generation of actors seem mid -
a bunch of cold side-dishes next to the older Pitts and DiCaprio's
The women are killing it though - Zendaya, Elle Fanning, Anya Taylor‑Joy, Florence Pugh - just to name a few.
Austin Butler (Elvis) was creeping up for a while
he used to give ‘American boy’ vibes but he’s too pretty now,
he somehow glows - is he wearing makeup in the everyday?
Timothée Chalamet (Dune) - was interesting at first,
but the more I see him, the more I think uggg.
And he's dating a Kardashian - PLEZ.
(I suppose someone has to date the Kardashians - but ick.)
and I think, in a pinch, I could kick Timothée’s ***
I’ll take responsibility.
My favorite movies this year were:
Train dreams, One battle after another, Sinners and Sentimental value in that order. The other pics were ‘meh.’ 10 is too many to nominate for best pic.
There’s a breathtaking, surreal scene in ‘Sinners’ (a vampire movie) where the dead dance in perfect synchronization with the living that’s absolutely stunning.
‘Marty Supreme,’ rashly nominated, was dreadful in every way - slow, pointless, overhyped, and Chalamet has a girlie-man mustache that makes him look 14 and weak.
F1 - Brad Pitt is keepin’ it goin!! Is he really 62??! A Dreamy grandpa indeed.
The Oscars are less popular than they used to be.
In 2022, when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock and was allowed to sit there, for 20 minutes, like a human, to accept a statue for ‘best actor’ - to fawning applause - was absolutely disgusting.
But we all stream movies and series, don’t we? I for one, enjoy the fashion and I’d like to think some glamor still exists in this world where trash is so obvious and everywhere.
