Happy Mother’s Day, Mom, In Heaven
Seven years without you, mom,
But you’re always here,
Know me like when you were well,
Whether you are far or near.
Even when a little girl,
You longed to be a mom,
Loved all children all life long,
Until your memory was gone.
When a child yourself, you’d wait,
By their door while moms gave birth,
Hearing from their screams not pain,
Only their forthcoming joy.
Then you’d offer to the moms,
Your washing service for free,
Washed ***** diapers with glee,
The new born babies to see.
You could only have one child,
Though you longed for many more,
But mothered all that you could,
Motherhood always your core.
You doted on children, all,
Spoiled them rotten when you could,
Told them stories, watched them well,
A mother duck with her brood.
All children loved you, always,
Drawn to you your whole life through,
Fiercely protective of them,
Loved them all, and they loved you.
Now you brood are angels dear,
Littlest ones with tiny wings,
Who arrived too soon in heaven,
Know no pain, or want, or fear.
There you’ll watch them every day,
Play with them, sing them your songs,
Tell them stories old and new,
Their care now is your reward.
You’ll keep them well bathed in love,
Until by their moms they’re joined,
That is the Heaven I see,
Your hard life’s sweetest reward.
I also see dad close to you,
Smiling, and shaking his head,
Helping you to tuck them in,
When it’s time to go to bed.
Through tears that vision I see,
Brings my broken heart much glee.
