She stared out of her window Hoping to see his pretty face But hiding beneath the shadows Were empty promises and malaise She longed for hope, for love, for him But all she could hear in that moment Were unanswered telephone rings And the words in her mind, unspoken She stared out of her window Pages of her diary flipping with the breeze She turned to her last words just written Three words, eight letters, inked on paper with ease Her love for him was like a candle in the wind Lit by the hope of a bright tomorrow It shone against the gentle breeze that came in unseen Flickering in darkness, she lay on the floor wrapped in an everglow
