Don’t judge a book by its cover,” Then go on judging anyway. They say, “Don’t pretend,” But have twenty-one different personalities They maintain for each person every day. They say, “Be kind to new people,” But talk behind their backs like foul play. They say, “Everyone is beautiful,” But still follow extreme diets like a game they play. They say, “Wear whatever you want,” But take two hours to get ready. They say, “Passion is very important,” But still force themselves into a corporate life. They say, “Money isn’t important,” But still buy Birkin bags, funny. They say, “Your past doesn’t matter,” But still stalk you on the internet, don’t worry. They say, “We don’t care,” But care a lot about what matters. They say, “Class doesn’t matter,” But their looks speak a different way. Hypocrisy has no limits For these “they.” Whoever “they” are What do they even say? Have they done anything for you Except make you question If you’re enough for this “they”? They don’t matter. They live a life Full of lies, Full of masks That eventually fades away. If you keep listening to them, You might turn into a “they” yourself, And then realize They were fake all the way.
