A gentle rhythm pounds within my neck.
Restricted breath faintly escapes,
despite how hard I pull.
The rhythm stutters,
as I wait…
for it to stop…
But it never does.
All that’s left is the rope burns across my neck;
a reminder that I failed to do what’s right.
In my soul, I feel nothing left.
And my heart only feels tight.
I close my eyes,
imagining that forsaken rhythm finally stopping.
I wish for freedom, for the alluring nothing of the skies,
in a world without my corrupting.
