The winter of our discontent Became the spring of fury Only to end in the summer of docility Because limits are bumped into As easily as frustrations are forgotten And as soon as the momentum has gone The passive majority will claim to have won The discontentment keeps on lingering Against the background of potential change But the status quo knows how to appease And puts the revolution back at ease The winter of our discontent Held the promise of history But ended, once more, in tame passivity

Winter of discontent/summer of docility
The winter of our discontent Became the spring of fury Only to end in the summer of docility Because limits are bumped into As easily as frustrations are forgotten And as soon as the momentum has gone The passive majority will claim to have won The discontentment keeps on lingering Against the background of potential change But the status quo knows how to appease And puts the revolution back at ease The winter of our discontent Held the promise of history But ended, once more, in tame passivity
