When we were sitting next to each other at the laundry mat he asked if I wanted this thin red bracelet he was wearing. I said, "I guess so." He took it off his wrist and placed it in my open palm. I smiled. It was the shape of a heart. He gave me something very similar to his actual heart, stretchy, and easily breakable. A rubber band.
