Wear you heart on a severed sleeve Never question but always believe Let the sharp grass pierce your skin and sleep on soft bricks People that don’t even realise they’re sick Cry to the rhythm don’t stray from the beat Of amillion souls as they shriek from the deep shut up sit down and go back to sleep Dream of a better world that you could keep Breath in fresh air from inside your cage Finish the last and dont start a new page Pledge your alligience to the iron bars That keep you trapped in this world of ours Wonder but don’t quite fly up to the stars Hold your head high and cover your scars Set the world on fire and let it explode Watch this crippled world as it turns to stone Is this somewhere that you once called home? And you go far and wide just because you’re free to roam And you sit atop a hill And you write a poem You see a sunrise so pretty you’re sad that its going The violins play night seeps into day Not with a happy tune But relief, it ends soon It’s refreshing to know That there’s nought you can do So you finish the story And it all ends with you.
