you had my whole adoration
since the very first glance of you i had.
although, i didn't see your face first.
i saw first, first, first, first place,
over and over.
i could lie and say
that i could care less
and only saw a rival to defeat.
i could speak truth
and say that i thought
defeat would show you me
the same way i first saw you.
it took a long time to
get there; get right next to you.
but my first victory upon you
was to reject you.
maybe not for you, but for me.
i guess i have to thank you,
or not until i take back all those firsts.
