In the night, you're born anew,
A guiding light on endless blue.
A dream to hold, a wish afar,
A fleeting hope, a shooting star.
And when I’m lost, I look for you.
I know the truth, it cannot hide,
Like heaven and earth, we can’t collide.
Yet still I gaze with longing eyes,
Upon the sparkling midnight skies,
Afraid you might drift out of view.
The salty taste upon the sea,
Bears witness to this pain in me.
It feels as though a treasure rare,
Sinks deeper than my heart can bear,
Lost within the murky blue.
And still you shine, silent, aware,
Unmoved by love to my despair.
You are the sky – so vast, so free,
Belonging not to earth nor sea,
While I am bound to dreams of you.
