The cold air reminds me of you.. Waiting for the bus, walking to school, the taunting cars whizzing by.. It's been almost a year and yet your presence still haunts me. I never expected the bone chilling air would bring back everything. The warmth from my body slipped away as I stepped out my front door, as I walked down the street with the sun on my face, and the smell of the fresh frost on the grass. The wind and the noise from the street mockingly whispering your name in my ear, it's not something I can just ignore, but I try. I try and keep my focus on my feet, the pace of my steps, walking faster and faster to reach the warmth of inside once more, I'm not sure if it'd matter. I have a feeling that you're here now. My mind churns as I sit on the bus, waiting for the destination, waiting for my home. I anticipate the comfort of my new house, a place with new memories and new feelings. Your presence disappears once more as I cross the threshold into my home. Goodbye, forever.

The First Frost
