I can't react to every line and word
but ****** I can try
thumbs up to ever poet/poetess
maybe no one has, to cry

I'm just a singularity
but ****** all too hell
we, as a community
stand up, and hear the yell

I'm not you, and you're not me
but when you see thumbs down
chime in with words and thumbs

Making 20 different accounts to boost your own exposure? It works both ways. If you have a thumbs up, a heart, an add, and a sunshine function, you also have to have a dislike function, for balance sake.

Oh thank you so much for pointing this problem of thumb down I had not at all realised this was a problem I confess I've occasionally
have used thumbs up, but never have ever used thumbs down everyone on this site or any other
deserve our encouragement and support In truth I've never read a bad poem but like everything, In life, we all have to begin somewhere and all of us get better with time, encouragement support 
there Is a poet In all of us, but sometimes we need  an Inspiration 
or positive comment that what poetry about It what I believe, anyway, thanks again for pointing this out very grateful to you

Hot diggety dog Temporal Fugue! Look what you started and bloody good on you. I haven't really noticed many trolls, just a few pathetic,barbed, obnoxious, sometimes articulate but also with poor grammar, drivel. Trolls can get fucked so yep I support the removal of anon thumbs down thingamajig. Its in hp guidelines "if you don't like something, MOVE ON". Its not hard is it? This is a community of support so I think its fine to pat each other's back. There's enough hate out there so what's the harm in removing thumbs down? If someone wants to critique then they can in the bit that says "comments". Cowardly otherwise. Like I said, its not hard! Cheers everyone:)

You've made a valid point in your poem and it would seem to be very discouraging for young aspiring writers and poets when they see it applied to their work without an explanation particularly if its given by the same person or people time and time again.

Hmmm... I had never even noticed the thumbdown, but I agree with you.  I am so old I had to look up "troll" on the internet. The only ones I knew of before were the ones in children's literature.  I had heard the more recent use of the term but was not sure what exactly it meant.  Now I know.  And I am seeing the damage, as with the recent New Zealand crazy man, that broken and hate-ridden people can do with this medium. This site is so big it precludes careful monitoring by Eliot, but he needs to devote some time to  ways of preventing the crazies from intruding on this otherwise beautiful poetic meadow.

This applies more accurately if you are of the mind that all writings, no matter the quality or the subject matter, or the skill or the method of employment are the same. But that token, someone putting out nonsensical hate is of the same quality-writer that a so called Shakespeare in the sonnets.

This is really about what's been going on in the media lately with the film Captain Marvel, this has nothing to do with poetry (I see hardly anyone aggressively thumbs down-ing a poem or other artwork on here). Basically what happened is a bunch of people told their honest opinion about  mediocre film, and they were deleted and the thumbs-down option was removed from the rating site and the comments of people saying why they were going thumbs down were deleted and replaced with bot comments of "movie good" or code or smiley faces or "this is good, excited". I'm sorry, but to remove the thumbs down or the option for someone to do so is wrong. When you do that you eliminate the ability to improve, or for someone to help you improve. You eliminate the ability for people to communicate their feelings and you inevitably damage the person who can no longer learn from their flaws and failures to become better. Some poetry on this site is wretched--including some of my earlier poems. And there's nothing wrong with getting a thumbs down from a better poet so that you can learn to improve.

I never use thumbs down I only use thumbs up and if I don&#8217;t love something I just keep scrolling, I wouldn&#8217;t want to get loads of thumbs down because people have different tastes. I agree.

On the positive side the thumbs down did help the community to get rid of that paedo who was here. Conversely maybe we should get rid of thumbs up also, so trolls cant boost their own ratings?

I mentioned a poem I&#8217;d written that Vicki had liked about my very ill cat called Ringo and can you believe they started clicking the thumbs down on that! A poem about a dearly loved but very sick cat and very sick is the thought that comes to mind. 
As everyone seems to agree the tool performs no function other than as a source of annoyance. #Elliot

I agree, down with the thumbs down option.  If a poem doesn't suit your taste, move on.  If you have something constructive to say then leave a comment.  Simple and easy.

If people don't like something they should be able to voice it. Stripping people of that ability does nothing to further the community really. It just makes it so people don't have the live with the reality that some people may not like their work or comments. It's more detrimental in my opinion to remove it. Is everyone on here supposed to sit around patting each other on the back and saying we're all great? If so, I want out of that. I haven't really seen that many "trolls" on here either.
