I was listening to a program once on music and the author/composer made the point that 1 + 1 could = 1 in a philosophical wholeness that creates a more meaningful 1, but when I tried to explain this concept to an engineer, it was completely lost on him so you are probably right the best kind of math involves a kind of internal mechanics of the soul.
