while smoking out front I flicked off a loose bit of a charred paper remnant that floated about me as I hit the spliff again smoke swirled around the loose petal-like paper bit blackened by fire caught up in the fog of the morning and my wispy exhale it danced around me before landing someplace I lost sight of it but I assume it’s at home with the cigarette butts and the hundreds of index card krutches sunk into the mulch to the right of my porch by the sad bush
