For years & years I fought myself Breaking for air in a raging sea That violently slashes me, drags me down To a place so dark it will make you blind. One day I found floating debris And clung for dear life in the darkest sea. I thought that moment that I was safe, That piece of scrap was solid ground But I ignored the fact that I was lost, Still lost in the drubbing waves. For years I've been floating on false pretenses, Believe I am completely well But my safe haven is withering away And I'm struggling again against the thrashing waves. I was never free, and now I'm back In my deepest troubles and loudest yells I'm drowning again and I'm tasting defeat I'm not sure how much longer I can fight the sea And soon I'm sure I'll succumb to the screams But at least then I'll finally be free.
