standing by the fridge with the door open the cold air is hitting my knees and I don't even want anything to eat I just opened it because I didn't know what room to walk into next now the compressor is humming louder and I should shut it but if I shut it I have to turn around my phone vibrates in my pocket and I ignore it because answering requires a decision I shift my weight to my right foot and realize my arms are hanging weirdly by my sides I cross them that feels defensive I put my hands in my pockets my keys scratch my knuckles I finally push the fridge door closed and the magnetic seal clicks I look at the hallway I look at the living room I guess I will just go sit on the edge of the bed until I have to be somewhere
