A bright smile Strewn with freckles On a pale face A blue pool And a white sky Walking on the asphalt Your candy blanket And the wooden drawer Green stars And cardboard boxes The green field And the brambles The scraped up knees And the scandals I look out the window A cage of my own existence How will I fly Swim In an ocean of my own memories? The first time I saw your eyes The last time I said goodbye The next time I’ll kiss you ‘night Before I close my eyes You shake me awake With your raucous cries We dug for the gold And forgot the sky
