You came into my life with grace, the way sunlight breaks through the clouds on a winter afternoon. The way the ocean meets the sand. Fed on laughter and kisses, we grew fat on each other's love. How ever did I come to find you? Through passion? Through kindness? Both? I keep imagining your happiness at the thought of me, at the scent of me, the lingering memory of my lingering touch, the kisses that fell... I keep imagining how sad you must be, how nothing fits the way we once did, how thin and pale you've become since I've been gone, starving lingering.

Ode to Iris
Rough seas in the morning whitecaps litter all distances the space between sunrise and starlight the space between you and I I reach for you.... Does my voice touch what my hands cannot? What only stars can see? Missing me where did you go when we stopped talking that June morning, silence, the dark sentinel erasing your existence?

Estranged
Yesterday you were here bolt of sunlight and music happy summer smell of you music of your laughter the silver-white ribbon of time stretching out before us.... Today there is rain in the air the smell of newness and of earth the feeling of hello and goodbye the way it always feels in spring the way it always feels between us

Mother's Day
Islamorada is beautiful in April The wind always in the palms Calls of native birds wake me to thoughts of you Calls of native birds Wind in the palms You, sleeping breathing beside me the wealth of you in my arms
