Put a rose in my hair
And i will smile,
Leave a note at the bedside
Yea, do it with style;
Take my hand in yours
When you go for long walks,
Lets sit by the lake
As we watch the swimming ducks;
Let me see the sunset in your eyes,
And smell the perfume on your neck:
And when i fall asleep in your arms,
Leave on my lip nothing less than a peck;
I might not wake up to see you here,
Just leave with me a night to remember:
But if i do wake up still in your arms,
I will make you mine forever.

A poem on writing
for that’s what I do
I write out a poem
to share it with you
I write about love
and I write about wishes
Cool summer nights
and warm tender kisses
I write about things
that are close to my heart
Just like my last poem
“I’m ready to start”
(Shameless plug)
I write about tears
and heart broken sorrow
A sunset tonight
and the sunrise tomorrow
Sometimes they are funny,
sometimes they are sad
And sometimes I lean
very close to the bad
I write about flowers
and gardens and trees
Hummingbirds, butterflies,
a soft flowing breeze
I write about stars
and the moon in the sky
The sun and the clouds
every day passing by
I write about snow
and I write about rain
A couple of times
I have written of pain
I write about oceans,
the waves and the shore
Sandcastles, seashells,
footprints and more
I write about music
on violin strings
Guitars and pianos
and melodic things
I write about hope
and I write about dreams
Walks out in nature
near slow moving streams
Won’t write about hate,
don’t like to cause trouble
I run from the subject
real fast, on the double
At times I am goofy
and act like a fool
But never use cuss words
to make me look cool
I don’t write in anger
or feature religion
Well, maybe sometimes,
perhaps just a smidgeon
But mostly I write
as thoughts do occur
And always those thoughts
seem to linger on her
I write so she smiles,
I write so she knows
That I’ll always love her
no matter what goes
I write my affection
so she has to see
That there is no other,
no other for me
I write from the heart
in hopes she will feel
This love that I send
and know it is real
For she is my angel,
my every desire
All I’d ever want
and all I require
So there now you have it
the things that I write
I hope you enjoy what
I’ve shared here tonight
And one final thing,
just a little note
Real soon I'll stop by
and read what you wrote*

You stole the light from my soul, when you left
But I had no way to prevent, or report your theft
You left me behind all alone, groping in the dark
Searching the ashes blindly, for some sort of spark
I fell into a deep, never ending abyss
Don’t know how long, I existed like this
Until that scar, on my heart fell off
It’s only then I knew, I could once more love
Now I endlessly search, for a cinder or glowing ember
To relight my soul, like those days I remember
But with every spark that I’ve chosen, to my light renew
It only fades and dies, with each memory, of you

Harmonic footprints
we stroll hand in hand
Seashells and heartbeats
alone on the sand
Ocean breeze whispers
and sandcastle dreams
Twilight concertos in
shimmered moon beams
Slumbered horizons,
a slow lullaby
Stars made for wishing
now sing to the sky
Melodic waves
softly kissing the shore
Here on this beach
I could not love you more*

*The stage has been set
Nature anxiously waits to see
How the Earth intends
To transform a seed into a tree
Cloaked beneath the soil
Hidden far from sight
Strengthened by the rains
Nourished by the light
And perhaps magic does exist
Just undetected to the human eye
Because that tiny little seed
Has now risen to the sky*

#*Feasting table under a shading tree
Swaddling robe that warmly cleans
Mirror beautifying while it reflects
Sword that pierces yet never rejects
Light penetrating the blackest hole
Water filling and healing the soul*#

Gray hides clear and blue
daylight turns into darkness

When you were old enough
You answered the call to serve
Many friends among you
Didn't have the nerve
Off to basic training
Learn to fight a war
Time to become a man
Off to a foreign shore
Battles you will face
Put your life on the line
Dying for your country
To you that would be fine
For our freedom
You paid with your life
Leaving your parents
Kids and a wife
Thank you for your sacrifice
A cost we cannot repay
Allow us to honor you
On this Memorial Day
Our Country
Forever in your debt
Promises that...
We will never forget

*The cloudy skies make mild the Sun's shine
Tiny blades of grass
brazenly shoot up the red, moist soil
A herd of goats takes wholesome bites
out of luscious, green shrubs
The field looks inviting and ready to plow
The earth is cleansed
Everything is new
The world is beautiful
I love the rain
The coolness of the atmosphere
Springs up in me depths of contentment
Small worries seep away
I can do anything and everything
The earth is still, Nature is at peace
Petrichor floats in the soft, wet breeze around me
The fragrance of rain washes over me
I can almost taste it
I inhale deeply, I exhale joy
I feel alive
I love the rain.*

*your coming in with the rising sun
in soft morning light and glistening dew
made me think life could be a huge smile
and that nothing about you could be a trifle
conversation with you was like lyrical poetry
full of measured tones and profound emotion
words are wholesome food when one is enamoured
you sip their oozing nectar at every sugary pause
your voice was like a heavenly harp magically played
by expert fingers dancing to an inspired melody
that only i and they could hear, and cherish like a dream
thus see me now with my face still ravaged by possibilities
but alas, you decided to take your leave with the dying day
and i knew my bewilderment would last the stretch of eternity
you walked away into the twilight and never once looked back
those who go away with the setting sun do not always rise with it*
