The door to my heart
Was always left ajar
In hopes that some lovely soul
Would make himself at home.
I should have had
The foresight
To keep it closed
And lock it tight
When you arrived;
A charming thief
In the dead of night.

Forgot his face
Forget his name
Forgot his kiss
Forget his warm embrace.
Forget the way he smiled
Forget the way he talked
Forget the sound of his voice
Forget the way he walked.
Forget the way he made you laugh
Forget the comfort you felt
Forget the way he said "I love you"
Remember he's with her tonight.

Forget his name, you must forget.
You murmur in your sleep.
Forget his face, try even through closed eyes.
Forget his touch, one that you miss so.
Forget all the times you shared.
Forget the feelings he made you feel.
Forget his words, all those promises still unkept.

Give me one chance
To tell you why you don't deserve another.

Nervous.
Frightened.
Caring.
Space.
Words.
Smiles.
Memories.
Hearts race.
Feelings
Break
Hands
Shake
One
Gives
One
Takes
One
Destroys
One
Creates
One
On time
One
Always late
Trust
Begins
But trust
Always fades

Your obliviousness makes me want to lay out all the suppressed words on the wooden surface -
Would you pick them up
or leave the table?

shared ice cream cones
little specks of banter
and time to time assumed glances
made me trip and all,
are you worth the fall?

the lines of inked poetry
have yet to rhyme;
how can i think
when i've got not much time?
