One day I turned around
I looked away
For a second
To reach for Mother’s hand
I heard a sound
And turned back ‘round
In a flash
Life; transformed
There I saw
Where stood before
Our family tree
Mother as roots;
I as the stem
And now; fruits
In a second
My youth forgotten
And maternal thoughts
My mind did fill
How so fast
Did this day come?
Once the stem
Now the roots
So quickly
Life transformed.

The path we followed
For years it lead
Till we reached a gate
On which it read:
MEMBERS ONLY
A heavy sigh
Escaped your lips
Then
A heavy guilt
Filled my heart
Our eyes met
Our souls knew
The time had come
and finally;
A loosened grip
Slowly, gently
I withdrew my hand
Promised my return.
On my childhood
I turned my back
At last;
My very own path.

We are all houses with l o t s of rooms and those we know only ever

Tell me
How long until
My hands unfeel
Yours in mine
How long until
My eyes unsee
Your blue eyes
How long until
My ears unhear
the sound of your voice
How long until
My heart unloves
A relentless love?

Isn’t it our right
rite of passage
to be outcasts
just for now
now’s the time
do without thought
live without limits
make decisions
the ones we’ll regret
and cherish
let us live
love this way
just for Now
now’s the time
the only time
to be young.

Their lips burned with passion
Their bodies
This collision of souls
Perfectly conducted; a
Religious experience
Almost.
Then
A wavering
A fault
In their union.
The fault;
Their bodies loved with
Familiar passion
Yet empty it was;
Baseless
Soulless
Superficial 'loving'.
"He's not mine" she thought
"She's not the one" he knew
In that moment;
A decision was made
Loneliness, or empty love?
Empty love.
We choose
Fulfilled hollowness.
