F Love to read, love to learn / I don't claim to be a poet, just set down thoughts and feelings / Sometimes see life through a dark lens
The blank page smiles sadly as it waits Waits for some poetry or a story Words not written, it rails against the fates Blank, it waits for the tale to glory Alone, it waits for its author to write How long can the page go on being blank Tick, tock, time files as it waits for a knight Forgotten, the rotted page lies thankless Then, one drizzly day the writer sits down And puts pen to the page; a tale unfolds Life has taken hold. In words it now drowns A glorious story now fills its soul Just a reminder to remember page And quench its thirst for words that do assuage Kelly Rose © May 29, 2026

Assuage the Thirst - 14 lines
The past clouds the mind And it’s a struggle To see past the distortion And dysfunction To see – Well, to see me Moments of clarity Are the blessing I attempt to embrace To see – Well, to see me and you Kelly Rose © May 27, 2026

Thoughts on an Idle Wednesday
I sit amidst the chaos That is my life While, sipping fragrant tea In a delicate china tea cup As I ponder how to untangle Myself from this quagmire of life Though my life does not lie in ruins I do get dusty from wading Through broken dreams and illusions Of the past. I do look forward to that moment I will shower off the murky past And non-existent future So I may sit in the present With no worries about the Utterly flawed future I sit amidst the chaos That is my life While, sipping fragrant tea In a delicate china tea cup As I try to solve The riddle of that annoying Age old question of “How did I get here?” Kelly Rose © April 16, 2026

How Did I Get Here
I was surprised by the alluring scent May smiled. “You're late – you almost missed tea I rolled my eyes. “It was 4, wasn't it? “Jack and Jill will be here, such a cute pair” “Jack and Jill, humm, will they really be there?” “Of course,” May said. “They are bringing the wood.” Tom scoffed. “They're not here? Who will bring the wood?” May smiled dreamily, “I love wood scent.” I scoffed. “I'm here, will they even be there?” “Of course,” May said. “They would never miss tea.” “Don't like them,” Tom said. “A most horrid pair.” “You chose someone else, Glory, wasn't it?” “Jill chose him. What could I do about it?” “She looked for you, but you just weren't there.” “I was late because she wanted those pears.” Tom huffed. “No one needs or wants your two cents.” “Don't be rude,” May said. “You'll ruin our tea.” “Check your cell. Have Jack and Jill got the wood?” “Is that all you can think about? The wood?” “It was your job to get wood, wasn't it” “No!” I stated. “I'm all about the tea.” “Ha, Ha,” May said, “You really are out there.” “I've got all that tea that Demitry sent.” “Yeah, two years ago. You ****** as a pair” “We were a couple, not some weird bird pair.” “I'd do anything for love, yes I would.” “Liar! May, you hocked the ring Alex sent” “He broke my heart, I just couldn't keep it.” I laughed. “You don't keep the ring, it was theirs.” “I don't...let's just concentrate on our tea.” “No more,” I groaned. “No more talk about tea.” “You and that guy were never a good pair.” “What would you know? You weren't even there.” “I won't wait for them, even though you would.” Fist clenched. “Did you ******* sabotage it?” “Stop! Everyone knows tea is heaven sent.” You cannot have pears with tea, but you would even though they're late, tea, it's heaven sent Kelly Rose (c) May 3, 2025

Have I said too much? Crossing lines, I didn’t know existed Nothing controversial, just a little Bit out there A shake of the head And the curtain falls Shut out behind some opaque veil More impenetrable than steel Have I said too much? Have you ever felt betrayed by a song Mondegreen, what a cold ***** One line misheard, and now the Song no longer makes sense Or maybe too much sense. All comfort has flown and I’m left – wondering if I said too much. (C) November 28, 2025

Have I said too much?
For me the sestina is a perfect way to tell a story. This is a wedding rehearsal dinner told from different points of view. The rehearsal dinner Father of the Bride God, she’s beautiful. My poor blind baby Girl. She thinks he is some kind of white knight Tomorrow will be the blackest of days Married to a gold digger. No more time No, the thought…Tomorrow will be his last Lost her to a cur. Pain colors me blue Maid of Honor Oh my God, he has gorgeous eyes of blue What he sees in her, ug! She’s a baby She’s kidding herself, this will never last She’s so gullible. Yeah – he works nights Like the night he’ll have with me, our last time On to the next, tomorrow’s a new day Groom’s Mother What a farce! Tomorrow is a wasted day A loveless marriage is living life blue This smile hurts. Unfortunately time’s Run out. She’s gotta be knocked up – poor baby But we need the money; right now, this night **** how much longer can this agony last Best Man He’s such a man whore. No way will this last Getting married is just another day She needs to be saved. I would be her knight If she were mine, her life would not be blue She’s perfect. If only she were my baby It should be us. If only there was time Groom Too bad she’s not the bride, she’s a good time God, how much longer can this dinner last At least her friends are hot, oh yeah baby I don’t know how I’ll get through this long day Marriage, ick, man I’m crying the **** blues I’m gonna bang the bridesmaid all through the night Bride Oh my God, he’s mine, my shining white knight I’ll love him always, until the end of time He’s so perfect - I’ll never sing the blues He’s my first, my only, he’ll be my last My wedding will be the most perfect day Perfect, I can’t wait to have his baby Envoi He’s no white knight and she is such a baby She’s doomed to sing the blues, while he’ll be caught time after time At long last, the day will end Kelly Rose (c) 2/27/2026

A mask dangled from her fingers She wondered who she’d be today A soft sigh of sadness lingers The mask dangled from her fingers She knew not herself – to her dismay Who knew the price she’d have to pay? A mask dangled from her fingers She wondered who she’d be today Kelly Rose © May 20, 2020

I don’t need sugar or vinegar to Entice you to drink my cup of poison I am a savior, a black widow, who Lures you to my dark web, disguised as the sun I am a chameleon who changes To satisfy every need, until you Can’t live without me, no matter how strange You’re my new toy. I will give you no clue To the pain I will inflict with pleasure Not only will you love my deadly poison You will crave its taste as if it’s treasure Yes, your pain pleases me beyond reason So, come and taste my darkness, it will be Beyond imagination. You will see! Kelly Rose © March 23, 2018
