The words you produce are poison
The type that spreads fear
It's an echo of oppression
That mutters close to ear
You think it's just for fun
Just a quick win
For you it's a passing comment
But for me it's embedded in my skin
'They're just words' you say,
You're a freak, man, ****
'Remember what you're worth'
That's what it really like,
You don't think before you say
Whenever you speak these slurs
You perpetuate the hate
Masking me in caricatures
So next time you begin to say,
Those little words to me
Please check your ego,
And ******* let me be.

Young is the flesh that your body may be
Frail is the mind of a body that cannot see.

It's not fair! I say to them
But 'fair was never part of the deal'
As the blue turns into grey
I watch day after day pass by me
Keep grinding this grindstone
'To reach your goals' they say
So i'll keep writing and writing
Churning into this machine day after day
The embrace of keys to words
To make sentences of meaning
Eventually i'll get to the finish line
One punctuation and comma at a time.

You, it's all about you,
Why, it's your subjectivity,
Oh, the pause between sentences
You make me feel alive.

I'm writing high on life
With the clock ticking away
I dream everything all at once
With images that flash by
I remember those words you spoke
The last embrace you gave me
It makes me feel spectrums
Making lines across my heart

I'm surrounded by a sea of people
As far as the eye can see
All flowing in the same direction
And just floating along, is me
I've been wading in this water
Letting it carry me any way
Not caring about which direction
And never having any say
After wading all this time though
My legs started growing tired
So finally it was time to choose
Which direction I desired
But the problem with floating along
Was that I never became aware
I wasn't really a part of the waves
I was just sort of...there
What I wanted didn't matter
The waves still moved as one
Whether I moved with or against them
Didn't matter in the long run
Then I thought I better get out
And give myself some time to think
But I couldn't see the shore anymore
And with that, I started to sink
Now I'm surrounded by a sea of people
As far as the eye can see
All still flowing in the same direction
But drowning in it, is me

There’s a rubber band around me
It stretches from head to toe
I jump to extend my boundaries
With no avail I bounce back
It’s those invisible screens
Reflecting ideals and promises
Where is the freedom we dreamed?
When there’s nothing beyond
We’re our own poison
With a society so tightened
Can we try to express something?
Or are we doomed to silence
It’s harrowing beyond measure
The world that we’ve created
Carved up and delivered with,
Margins of error and doubt.

When there’s more than the shallow guise
It’s a troubled heart that’s contending
With all those misguided actions
It’s hard to feel safeguarded
Cast your iron from within,
Forget those external supports;
Your fragile casing cannot compete
With the enemy inside
So lets drink to ‘one last time’
Say ‘it’s goodbye to the false victories’
Leave that torpid mind behind
Cause we’re fighting for those understated
As we march away from the crowd
To dance around and not within
There’s a perspective we haven’t seen
Those of the in-between
