Undeserved, I find myself
Cascading, showers of bliss
Dare I indulge in such wealth?!

My heart has been shattered with hurt.
My tears fall heavy from burning eyes.
My arms are empty where your hugs once consoled.
My knees are weak and refuse to carry my heavy burden any longer.
My life will NEVER be the same again.
Oh that I could hear your voice just once more.
Oh that I could feel your warm embrace again.
Oh that I could see your beaming smile alight on your face.

That is how it is measured.
Hours, minutes, seconds
That is when it is treasured.
The golden crowning of new born hair
Nine months long awaited.
The elation when baby first cries
To parent's hearts blissfully sated.
At his child's bedside, vigilantly he sits
Praying, death to defy.
At her birth a dear mother was taken
Ashen fingers relax at her final sigh.
Redeemed love, staring; lost in her eyes
Wound healer, taker of grief.
Who is this proclaiming his love?
Memory stealer, oh what a thief!
Moments, thoughts, memories
That is how it is cured.
Years, months, days
That is when it is endured.

As through their valleys they strode
Facing turmoil and strife
Each traversing their own road
Not knowing their lot in life.
Struggle, it would prove to be
Onward and upward go
Through the darkness, hard to see
All but the loss and woe.
Atop the mountain was she
The sun upon her face
Asking, "Could it truly be?"
She'd found her ideal place.
He climbed the final crest
All follies of the past
Emotions high in his chest
Deep sadness gone at last.
Vision of beauty he saw
He'd found his life long love
She'd be his wife, by law
Peace of heart, like a dove.
Not valley, nor dale, nor hill
Darkness, trouble nor pain
Compare to the calm and still
Of Love's Glorious reign.
