juxtaposition unrelated extreme north and south black and white the relationship seems binary but the color doesn't stay inside the lines it bleeds all over the room it gets on your shoes soaks into the carpet it fills the air you breathe it in it seeps into your veins your heart glows softly at first then like sunbeams, light bursts from your chest and you understand the dissonance and you feel

right back
when a train honks its horn. on a calm quiet night. the sound is less like sound waves. but sounds more like light. it sends a wave of ruckus. that bounces here and there. then somehow switches on so brightly. it illuminates the air. it fades just light a sunset. so loud and then so soft. and when its gone the insects play. in darkness as you loft. a firefly of some sort. the train now passes on. to bring with it a light so bright. i had to write a song.

four ears
right left right left right left right we walk this path from day to night front to back and side to side these blinders keep us calm inside inside; a beat that we walk to what does that beat mean to you? to pump the blood that keeps you well? or does it prolong your living hell? if that beat began to slow until they said there was no flow then all the things that were ahead would vanish with the words "he's dead" if you could look him in the eye the younger you just might cry and ask you why you didn't even try to be that "motorcycle guy" it's too bad but it seems to be dreams have become idiocracy full of nos and won'ts and can'ts because you bought some big-boy-pants and with them on you chose to be the you that lacks originality to take yourself so seriously defines a loss of dignity so sold on how these things must go you photocopy the status quo embrace all that you can call you the fun, the weird, the nerdy too let it pour out of your soul onto a canvas; break the mold until the day when you decide to let your heart shine from inside and be the you that lives with ease accept the flaws; the insecurities you will walk down those same streets a miracle stripped to a monotonous beat so look within to find that passion it's up to you to take the action just believe; call this the start just believe; follow your heart

follow your heart
if i had to guess i'd say you're thinking of me too somewhere across the sea maybe way passed the moon you sit and think and maybe you write but its me you think of for most of the night you don't know my name and yours nor do i but i promise one thing, i'm a hell of a guy no i don't know exactly where you are but i bet we're looking at the very same star from your room where you write in your secret notebook a poem about me that you wish someone took and you know you should sleep but the words leave your hands as the tunes cross your ears from your favorite bands their lyrics tell you to keep going on even if this poem takes you till dawn you're new to this and so am i but writing in a mirror sure explains why i hope you are in fact writing about me too i just wonder how long until i find you

i feel you there
i set it down right there in the middle of the room a ripple crossed the surface as if the ground had shaken filled to the brim it sat so serene a glass of juice i had just poured from a carton now half empty my taste buds tingled and my mouth watered causing my lips to pucker a bit that feeling of refreshment just moments away i guess it could be called excitement the longer i waited with only my own will keeping me from the glass the more intense this feeling became but the instant my lips touched that cool cool juice that feelings was gone

to long
if you told a baby bird he couldn't fly he'd walk around and wonder why left foot right foot left foot right a flightless bird envys a kite to let the world determine fate is wearing the nose ring that bulls seem to hate

nose ring
i chased you for so long gave up all i had was so hard to do but without you i went mad yes i felt invincible once i made you mine what was before a shadow the sun now chose to shine my skin began to burn sweat dripped from the heat oblivious to the sun as the concrete burned my feet stranded in the open no willow here or there refuge under my own shirt an act of pure despair a man becomes a fool when all that can be seen is greener grass and then forgets to bring his own sunscreen

my dreams are real, not that yours aren't but mine have been grown from the soil of heart to be heard and be felt from the voice from within a tune for the ears to raise bumps on your skin just to hit you so hard that you fall to the floor not from the punch of my fist but my truth you adore not a quest for riches not a quest for things not driven by fame or by diamonds or rings an arena with thousands won't do the trick if the words that i spread make my conscience feel sick just a stool and a mic, an acoustic right there in a bar just half full with most who don't care the best part of all are the few who show up not to drink and get drunk but just sip from their cup as they laugh and converse about sports and the news i sing on my own to my old fashioned blues my most valued possession some may think is odd not a possession all, but a smile and a nod

silent applause
Like a friend with bad intentions Voices silently shouting no When you’ve got a spark hope The flame is smothered to a glow Don’t you listen to yourself? There must be more to life than this You’ve grown so weak and cold Your mind a deep and dark abyss Inside youre dying slowly but you're dying thats for sure As comments cloud your every thought And slam each open door There must be more than this They all said it would be fun Like an orphan in a home You hope you’ll be the one So you’ll change you say? Theres nothing stopping you You’ve got the things you need Just start at one then two The time to change is now Do it now before youre dead Don’t become defeated By the voice inside your head.
