For weeks and weeks I've viewed this site Hoping that some day it might Produce good verse instead of ***** But now I know this hope is vain And I'll not pass this way again and to my mind this site should be Not 'Hello' but 'Crap' Poetry.

HELLO POETRY
Old age comes not by itself But brings more in its train, There's loneliness and weariness There's sadness and there's pain But when I'm at the boarding gate About to leave this world, I'll look back at my blessings Ere the banner of life is furled And the greatest and the only one Whose passing I shall rue, The one that's ever in my heart My Darling, that is You.

My Darling
I wandered lonely as a cloud That floats o'er hills and vales. When all at once I saw a crowd, A host of rugby fans from Wales, Ejected from the pubs and bars, Singing and shouting 'neath the stars. Less gracious than a herd of swine Like drunken fish they swam And stretched in one unending line Along the streets of Twickenham. A thousand saw I at a glance All staggering in tipsy dance The ones beside them laughed to see Such comical display A poet in such company Could not be else but gay I laughed and laughed but never thought What lasting joy this show had brought. For oft when on my couch I lie In vacant or in pensive mood, They flash upon that inward eye Which is the joy of solitude And then my laughter comes in gales At those crazed rugby fans from Wales.                                                           Gareth David
