I was brought up in Glasgow, but moved south when I was eighteen. I had a private primary education but did not go onto higher education until I divorced my first husband. I lived in Bradford Yorkshire, for many years and loved the warmth of the people. I am married have a son and a daughter and the most fabulous grandchildren. Anything I put on here is mine and I own the copyright .
We sail through life often without a thought or a care
For a mother and father who have always been there
It's only when you experience sadness and strife
That it comes in a flash the real meaning of life
Because when you are troubled and in the depths of despair
You suddenly find its mum and dad who are there
Picking up the pieces putting your life back together
Coming to your aid in all kinds of weather
We don't often say it and there's no doubt that we should
Thank you we love you were coming out of the wood

Refuge
***** soaked mattress holes in the door
This drunken behavior I can't take much more
My children are at risk in his drunken state
My son packs my bags he is only eight
Under police escort we are taken away
The children are stressed they don't want to play
What keeps you going when life falls apart
Encourages you to take each day as it comes
No one to love you've broken your heart
The strength of your love for a daughter and son
Living within the four walls of your home
Anxious depressed and frightened for them
Downhearted despairing facing life on your own
There's no silver lining not even a hem
I hope when they're older they're old enough to see
The reasons behind why I did what I did
Nothing was for gain nothing was for me
I did what I did for the love of my kids

Nine months of anguish, despair and fear
Waiting for your child to appear
All that activity in your belly
The times drawing near you shake like jelly
Our son arrived safe and well
Pride and joy making hearts swell
Murray Alexander a name to remember
A loving mum so caring and tender
I'd do it again one after the other
For the happiness a child brings a father and mother
We'll give him the best there is in life
Long after he's gone and taken a wife
All that we ask for in return
Is his continuous love for his dad and his mum
