I want to understand An explanation exists But you're the only one who has it And it's gripped firmly by your fists We talk and we talk Now and then I get a peek Of your piece of paper With the answers that I seek Though now I've grown tired So I asked if I could see But the ink spells terrible things clearly Because you've put it in a safe, and thrown away the key I tried for as long as I could Told myself 'Fin, just leave it be' But no, I need to understand you And why you're doing this to me.

Understanding
These liars They never hear my soul scream the words Please don't keep me in the dark If there's something I should know I want to know it But they always want to keep me there Or maybe they don't Maybe I'm not right Maybe I keep myself in the dark Because I don't want to see the light.

Liars
Can't pick up a crown when you're holding what's holding you down. I used to love that phrase It helped me through my darkest days I try so hard not to remember that positivity is only ever a phase. By now you're starting to get the gist I can never escape that dark mist Because what's holding me down, well I'm not holding it What's holding me down is chained to my wrists.
