American My name is Elizabeth, I am 23 years old. I am currently a full time student at Olean Business Institute perusing an Associates Degree in Business Administration. I love to write poetry, it has been a passion of mine since I was a young girl. Someday I hope to have my work published. I am a Renal Cancer patient fighting everyday to beat it. A lot of my poetry has become about dying and fighting cancer and what it means to truly value life.
Forgetting the day Caught in the moment Engulfed by the vision Lost in a trance Capture the second The moon breaks the darkness Hearts beat the rhythm To which two lovers dance Embrace the passion Eyes locked to eyes Waves sooth the tension As sand greets the sea Now hand in hand Hearts intertwine Our lips meet so softly You and I become we…

Within The Moment
I am The water that flows through the streams And through my veins I am The wind that blows through the trees And fills my lungs I am the sun light that lightens the world And fills my eyes with reflection I am The earth which brings life to plants And sustains, life, in this body I am The intent which causes life to move And wakes me with purpose in the morn I am The desire of love ,innocent Unattached, moving, living I am everything And I am nothing When I “think” that I am this or that…. I am the drop When I “think” that I am nothing…. I am the ocean I am not the eye seeing But the one who making me see I am not the one hearing But the one who makes me hear I am not the one tasting I am not the one smelling I am not this Not this Realizing the roots of humility Surrendering I am Lost in the divine mother One…… Without another

I am What I am
Your were there ... In the worse of times. Your were there in the very best. You were there when I cried. My head buried deep into your chest. Th tears and whimpers and sighs... And you were there when the sky fell. The true love of a friend. Even when I was in hell. And you were there no matter how many times I died. You never faltered to the end. You picked me back up and made me stand. The true love of a friend. And it didn't matter how far or low I fell. You didn't make me feel less of a man. You were there to make me well. The true love of a friend. And when everyone else would pass judgement. As plain as the eye could see. The only two left standing. Was just you and only me. You gave me strength and honor... When no one gave me slack. And sniped and back-stabbed and ridiculed... Behind my hurting back. You were there when I contemplated suicide. And because of your love.... I'm still here.. I'm alive... The true love of a friend. Only cause you cared. Only... You were there. The true love of a friend.

Only You Were There
Someday when the world isn’t so cold And smiles smother her tempered heart She’ll open her eyes to a new life Vacating the existence of suffering Leaving her world of hand me downs She runs from shattered love Expecting the collapse to destroy her Second guessing what could have been And not believing in second chances Because her love is a hand me down Soon enough she will see The bold writing on the walls Screaming there is more to life If she would only open her eyes To a life without hand me downs But for now she will blindly walk Wearing clothes saturated with pain Skeptical of the love she deserves Because her life is no more than a hand me down

Hand Me Down
For if I dream It be of only two.... And of deep and heartfelt kisses And of eyes that gaze upon you And a dream of you being my Mr. My heart is the deepest cavern Like a goldmine set on fire And in your arms You take me Into the clouds... Yet even higher And with my strong arms I upsurge you Like a warm and loving breeze For when my eyes adorn you I shiver...and quiver And then I ask dear God... To bless me with you please And it don't matter how far away The only voices that I'll hear Is of you and me and our children in love In laughter and without tears For if I must live life without you With Less of body or of mind My love will always be here for you Until the end of time For love runs deep and true in me And no rain can wash away The love I'll always have as much for you Tomorrow as I do today You are my everything That in my heart I'll forever keep Your my gentle soul mate My River... In which my love runs deep A loving man Who has sealed my heart And never left me to feel forlorn And who has removed me from my sadness To a woman whose hearts reborn What have I done to deserve his love As I gaze into the stars above I am a woman whose mortal Not much too see I wonder how he does.. And under a silky shimmer of velvet light Viewing down from the moon above I finally realize He has taught me... How it is to be... In love

For If I Dream
There are so many things that happen in life for a reason. People come and go. Certain people stay. Sometimes in person and other times in heart. There is one saying that has always helped me out with life, if you see something you want do what it takes to get it. Yeah, it could take you a day, a week, a month, or a year. But I have always believed if at first you don't get it, don't give up. If that one thing is worth it, worth everything to you, then hold onto that memory/thought for as long as you can hoping one day it will be yours. You see, in life, when you give up on getting the one thing that you want is when you end up settling for the completely wrong thing. The one thing that is opposite what you truly want. The one thing that doesn't truly make you happy and you don't enjoy it greatly. You see, one thing that I have learned is not to just settle. You must be strong. You must not give up, especially on what your heart is telling you. Now I know I'm not that old, but I have been through a lot, and helped people through even more. And nothing kills me more than seeing someone settle for something they don't want. Something that doesn't make them happy. But I have to be honest now. This is the first time in my life that I am going to be giving up. I have what it is that I want the most in life standing right in front of me. But I can't have it. Either way I am losing in this battle, so I'm just give up. I never thought those words would ever come out of my mouth. But they have. I give up.

Hope Look towards the sunset. Do you see that injured bird? Hope is written on its wings. Look in the pond over there. Do you see that ugly duckling? It’s alone with its head bowed to the water. Look on that hospital bed. Do you see that young child with cancer? Hope sparkles in her eyes. Look at that boy across the street. Do you see that wheelchair he’s in? He’s sad because he might not walk again. Look at that girl kneeling at her bed. Do you see her hands clasped in prayer? Do you see her lips muttering, “Help me?” Do you see those tears glistening down her cheeks? Hope is written all over her hands. Hope is on her lips. And hope is in each tear that falls from her beautiful face.

Hope
Pushing Away You need to understand This isn't what I planned A simple little house, with a big front yard It doesn't sound that hard But we can't do it on our own Especially since the cancers grown I have no energy So why don't you forget about me Leave this hospital room And forget all this gloom I don't want to be the one to hold you back Find another girl who has the health I lack Stop sitting at home alone Waiting by the phone Just to hear if I'm okay You don't need me anyway Go now while I'm being strong I'll be calling for you before to long Stop with this persistence Stay away, keep your distance It hurts me to see you like this Just give me a goodbye kiss Go ahead be on your way Don't worry I'll love you anyway

Pushing Away
I love you I love you more than you can know, And more than you can see, I love you more than I could hope to have someone love me. I'll love you when you're sick and weak, And love you when you're strong, I'll love you through our arguements, if you're right, or if I'm wrong. I'll love you through the lace of time, Until we're old, until we're grey, I'll love you always, more and more, With every passing day. I'll love you in our times of plenty, and in our times of need, I'll love you when I have to serve, And I'll love when I can lead. I love you more than life itself, More than water, more than breath, and whether I go first, or you, I'll love you into death. I love you more than the word love, ever could define, I'll love you through whatever comes, I love you and you're mine, I love you with a burning love, that fills me through and through, I can never say these words enough, for truly, I Love You.
