I am from Harlem, where I was born on the floor of a kitchenette apartment in 1951. I am college educated and life-schooled. I sell cars for a living and have broadcast a blues radio since 1982. Communicating with people on small and grand scales has been a passion in my life. Although I have always been a writer, perhaps since age four, I only began writing poetry in 2008. I consider that I am learning to express myself through poetry. The experience of sharing my poetry online and in open mic format has been among the richest artistic, intellectual and cultural undertakings in my life.
