Occasionally I’ll see you
Within the lyrics of a song
On the face of a young woman
In the depths of a dream
And the sting never fades
But I seek not your pity
Or even a word
For you I know it was worse
Than I’ll ever know
So much has changed
Since our hearts were entwined
We’ve grown to be adults
Made commitments that bind
You knew then what we had
Was rare indeed
A love to last our lives
… Had I only took heed

Slap, slap, slap; she's always chatting,
Maybe to the gulls up above.
Winds being friendly to us both,
I toss the lines and give a shove.
Fix the sheets and adjust the tack,
She does the rest as I sit back.
Waves crashing off the bow,
I'm sailing now!

That first introduction
I wanted you
And I sensed you wanted the same,
But I said nothing.
The times when I caught you
Staring at me
As if you wanted to get caught,
And I said nothing.
Meeting out in a group,
We found ourselves
Drawn to one another all night,
And I said nothing.
You came into my office
Head next to mine
Your breath sending chills down my spine,
Yet I did nothing.
I see you, words are at my lips,
But I just smile,
And I say nothing.
