I know what it is like to feel passion; the way my skin tingles at your touch Leaving me breathless and wanting more. The two of us entangled in the darkness. your blinds drawing shadows across my figure As your fingers gently graze my cheek. you penetrate my soul with your own and I feel so close to you it hurts. I know what it is like to love another; denounce your whole being unto him and trust Him with the power to destroy your essence. He will never know what he has done to me. He will never know the power he has over me. He will never know the passion I have for him now. I know what it is like to be in love; for I am captivated by your eyes, by the upturned corners of your mouth and most simply by the feeling I get around you.

Young, but not naive.
Some of my happiest days on this earth Have been spent driving south. California bound, sunshine state of mind. My memories of that time are rose tinted, As if our entire trip had occurred in the golden hour. Sleeping in your arms in the back of my car Under the stars, Surrounded by no one. I now realize that I have no photographs of you Because you were always on the other side of the camera. Sure, mountains and beaches and sunsets are pretty But they are not the things I want to remember about that summer. I wish I could have a photo of us Happy As we were. Something to commemorate Eight thousand kilometers of blissful ignorance.

South.
I do not believe in destiny, Or silly things like Love at first sight. I think Soul Mates are for dreamers who Are too afraid to put forth the effort And make something difficult, Into something that works. However, I do believe in Love And it’s many shapes and forms. I saw it once, in your eyes While we danced in your apartment To the sound of sirens cutting though the night. I do believe in Heartbreak. You’ve made it happen twice. Once when your lips first touched mine And again, six years later When you removed your hand From my waist.
