Cathryn "Catie" Lien has wanted to be a writer since she could read, but it was only until she was in sixth grade that she knew a writer is what she wanted to be as her profession. It was also in the sixth grade that she was introduced to poetry, and wrote her first poem entitled "the Giants." She has written many poems after that, although she is strictly a fiction novel writer, and writes in her journal in poetry rather than in entries. Her favorite poets are E.E. Cummings, Robert Frost, and Eve Merriam.
