I use to write poetry often, but since college, I haven't really given myself the time for it. I got an email from Hello Poetry, and it got me thinking so now I'm trying to write more like I used to. Poetry was a release for me, and it helps me clear my head, reflect on what's going on around me, and make the right decision. / / Most of my poems are from about 5+ years ago, but I'm going to slowly post them here to build my library. I hope you enjoy them.
When you walk into a room
Your essence glows light a light.
Your smell wipes out all the gloom,
And everything feels so right.
Your hugs are like a warm blanket,
And your love falls out like snowflakes.
Is this as close as we can get?
Oh, and when you speak, my earth shakes.
You have got the most caring heart,
And the best smile to prove it.
The world turns cold when our hands part.
Was there ever a more perfect fit?
There’s an adventure dancing in your eyes,
A wild man full of too much love.
In your eyes is where the truth lies,
The truth so pure like a white dove.
Your eyes portray the most intense event,
All the action scenes rolled into one.
With a strong love that can’t be bent
And all the burning desire of the sun.
Your hands are as sweet as candy.
Never presuming; always caring.
Your lips are quite a mystery,
But are, oh so, senselessly daring.
Your words always float in my mind,
A conscience to be my right guide,
Like Jiminy right by my side.
It’s to you alone I confide.
Conversation is such a key.
I could talk with you forever.
Oh, how content I would be.
Forget your lovely words? Never!
You’ll demolish all my pains,
My apothecary for all.
Part of you runs through my veins.
You help me stand firm and tall.
How can I get rid of you?
You alone have turned me upside down.
You have made me all brand new.
My inner self is who I have found.

I need an escape
Send me into a world
Full of nothing, but
A breeze of soft whispers
Or the sound of
The wise, talented ones
I need an escape,
From this waterfall
Of hurt and disappointment
Pouring out of my eyes
My concentration is gone
My mind is scattered
I need an escape
Take me away
Into the sunset
Chasing it so fast

I feel an emptiness, you see
It caresses and surrounds me
All I feel is that you’re gone
The memory of you dawns

I see your figure shining through

You complicate me.
And not in the complicated,
Messed up, confusion of the mind,
Let’s not go there kind of complication,
But you make me more unique.
You add quality to my life.
There’s just something about you.
It’s not an event. It’s not a trait.
It’s not even your words.
It’s a feeling like love, that just
Overpowers and assures me.
This dominating feature you possess,
Possesses me.
It possesses me and confirms my thoughts
About where I am and where I want to be.
With you alone, my thoughts rest.
With you alone, my heart is sure.
With you alone is where I want to be.
Let’s shock the masses.
Let’s perfectly master the art of perfection.
Let’s love to live and love to love.
Love each other because it feels right.
Because together, that’s what we want.

Here comes that Beautiful Boy,
Whose smile out shines the sun.
That Beautiful Boy and his sweet nature
Can be outweighed by none.
With his Beautiful eyes so laid back,
Their very nature brings me home.
That Beautiful Boy and his security
Are like nothing I have ever known.
