We sighing said, "Our Pan is dead; His pipe hangs mute beside the river Around it wistful sunbeams quiver, But Music's airy voice is fled. Spring mourns as for untimely frost; The bluebird chants a requiem; The willow-blossom waits for him; The Genius of the wood is lost." Then from the flute, untouched by hands, There came a low, harmonious breath: "For such as he there is no death; His life the eternal life commands; Above man's aims his nature rose. The wisdom of a just content Made one small spot a continent And turned to poetry life's prose. "Haunting the hills, the stream, the wild, Swallow and aster, lake and pine, To him grew human or divine, Fit mates for this large-hearted child. Such homage Nature ne'er forgets, And yearly on the coverlid 'Neath which her darling lieth hid Will write his name in violets. "To him no vain regrets belong Whose soul, that finer instrument, Gave to the world no poor lament, But wood-notes ever sweet and strong. O lonely friend! he still will be A potent presence, though unseen, Steadfast, sagacious, and serene; Seek not for him -- he is with thee."

Thoreau's Flute
I have a little firework And it burns dark and slow. And every time I hold it; I think cancer's sure to grow. But we spend time together, My firework and I So when it does **** me I'll know it's time to die.

For Sale
If I'm being honest (which I barely ever do) I often fear that stories of heaven are really, actually true. One lifetime seems plenty, so it'd be a waste to have two, especially when I feel like this one already ought to be through. I also hate the heat, and I never loved the rain, and the thought of being honest makes me think I'll cry again. It's something that I'm learning but, the process is soslow, so please stay with me and wait, I promise you I'll grow.

I swear
My favourite past time is walking into people wearing camouflage, and saying; 'oh sorry didn't see you there'. It's not a poem. I just like doing it.

My spare time
Don't teach me how to fly like you did, Or say that you yearned to float. And all the pain that you hid; You yelled it to a rope. All the world so loved you, But, it was the end you chose. So when the finals winds blew I pray they saw you home. Amen.

Prayer for you, always.
The love of God's a mansion, And wholly paradise. He's renovating your cottage To rebuild you with life.

A Haven
A love like yours, so beautiful. I can only wish to understand. It goes on and on forever, like the waves that kiss the sand.

I wish I'd said
A warm embrace of sunshine To help me to forget A prayer that's so clandestine; A want of eternal rest. No flame of passion to warm my day or eliminate my night. Life's once blue skies, grey, and nothing fits quite right. A sunset over my shoulder, not yet promising a dawn. The gravity of life no longer hugs me in. So I close my eyes and pray again, that death is not a sin.

Eternal blink
A single footstep in the sand. A tear spilt on the beach. The quietness without you, and The absence of your speech. The long hot days in summer, I've never been so alone. I'd welcome back the thunder, If it meant that you weren't gone. The storms we'd weather together, The ones we helped create. You always said it better; We didn't argue but, 'debate' Love's not butterflies in stomachs But a heart held in my hand. You left a permanent mark, When you knelt down in the sand. A ring slipped on my finger, I'll be forever yours. Eternal love will linger, You're the ghost that I adore.
