Can you feel this fear
Orchestrated by a tear
Made by a scared thought
Pushed by what the mind taught
Listen now to this trembling story
Illustrated by an apologetic sorry
Compacted by a mirror broken
Agony of those words never spoken
Time came when terror made a mark
Erupted to ignite this morbid spark
Darkness becomes a tad complicated

A stranger visited the Earth,
This is what he saw.
No one could love, love was gone.
No one believed, it wasn't allowed.
No one sought peace, there was only their way.
No one could think, it was done for us.
No one would change, they needed permission.
No one cared, because no one would dare.
The stranger decided to confront those in power,
They lobotomised him to become a no one.

illusions of
escape velocity
for us became
placebos like
a gentle darkness
gumshoes into
disarray.

searching for
a world beyond
the glass where
ceilings melt
into blue sky.
refusing to
surrender on
the outside
looking in.
shadows speak
of sacrifice like
work has never
failed and
dreams are not
an endless staircase
into hell.

Could you take this broken heart
this funeral beat, this withered soul
and take it back there to the start
to love again and make it whole.
Could you take these doleful eyes
of faded green, once emerald bright
and bring them up to meet with yours
to fill them with your loving light.
Could you love me in this moment
disregard my broken bones
shattered by another's longing
take my hand and lead me home.
If you could, not everlasting,
for a second, suspend time
would you press into my darkness
to place your healing hand in mine.
This I ask with humbled chorus
not for better, nor for worse,
the love you give it will not linger
let your blessing be my curse.

In Memory of Carl Sagan
his pale blue
sense of wonder
suspended
in a sunbeam
taught beauty in
the faint sensation
of our atoms
put together.
a legacy of
dust and stars
billions upon billions
of stars
I saw the sky and
endless possibility
stretch over me like
broken shackles
form the past
and we remain the
momentary masters
of a fraction
of a dot.

music hollows
out an empty

its strings.

She walks in starlight
Coming of age
In a riptide.
Her lone synth chords
Reminiscent of an
Open mic motel.
Burning multi-layered sound
We don’t fear the dark now.
There’s room enough for two
And Technicolor in a
Hot air balloon.
I can taste the comfort
On another world with you.
Delicate piano dodging
Missiles from the ground and
Candy playing on the radio
Can’t sing like we can hum
And feel the undertow.
