I remember your bear feet in the grass
Toes wet with dew, muddy with dirt
The days that stretched forever but were never long enough
I remember the lake
The blackness that made it seem to go down for miles
Nothing was too small
That would never go away
Nothing would ever change

Do you remember that night?
With the city Lights.
The way they danced on the tiny waves
lapping the shore of lake Ontario.
Do you remember the moon?
With its orange hue.
We sang on that bench until morning,
up all night, just me and you.

Lately there has been a change
Talking to you is like shaving against the grain
You no longer give me that look so strange
This, I must admit, has caused me much pain

We stayed up and talked late into the night
We shared a drink, we shared a dance
I reached for your open hand
I slept alone, and so did you

We would wake up just before the sun
We would wake up and just drive
we would drive, drive and drive
Past the dull orange of the street lights
Past the sidewalks and alleys
Past the people and past their problems
We would be in the july sun
We would be where the grass grows tall
We would be unstoppable
