I'm not trying to over complicate Something so simple As holding a hand. I have seen too many friends Strip down until they are completely covered in Vulnerability. And watch the person they trust Take what they want And treat it as a joke. This I have decided that the gateway to my trust Will always be closed. I'm quick for a kiss But awfully slow For holding your hand.

hold my hand someday
No. I'm sorry but you can't. I've had my fun with you. And you've definitely had your time with me. I can't be tossed aside when you feel like it, And you sure as hell cannot come back to retrieve me Like the bone a dog chews when it is bored. I wish you the best. Really I do. You can't love me. Because I don't love you.

love someone else
I hold a key in my pocket My friends have a spare And my family are the lock makers I don't give it to people often In fear of what they can do with access To my brain To my heart To all the thoughts I bury deep inside They gain my trust slow Because I know what a boy With an imperfect smile And a spark in his eyes Could do to a girl like me A girl who's had to change the locks too many time to count.

Lock and Key
I don’t understand I tell myself I’m pretty But my words fall flat on the mirror I speak into. I like my hair and my eyes But all I can see is my nose and my lack of thighs. I deserve better I think.

My anxiety holds me hostage in my own body It covers my mouth with lies And holds my hands down with worries I deserve better I think.

Jokes
I wish people worked like clocks They can be tall Short Loud Quiet They can be digital They can be old-fashioned They can be dressed up Or even a little bare And when they break You can tell And you can fix them And make them all better

Clockwork
The girl hits good for a 5 foot 2 120 pound mountain of attitude Her friends asked if she learned from a dude But she smirked and said her Aunt Mary and her wife Aunt Jude The girl liked the way it made ripples in skin How a punch could change a person’s complexion From a pale white to black and blue. Her boyfriend was a different color every day Blue in the eye and purple in the ribs People thought he liked it that way But they didn’t know how he truly lived The girl used her jab as her excuse for coming home late Her right hook to why she hooked up with his best mate Her uppercut meant she didn’t want to take out the trash And her straight meant she wanted some extra cash He gave her what she wanted because all he could see Was an angel who barely met 5 foot 3 And it’s not like he could ever talk back Her left hook always dealt with that.
